Furthermore, Patrick Fournillier invests himself in contemporary Musical Creation, by conducting numerous new pieces, from which a lot where World's Premieres : Maurice Ohana, Ivo Malec, Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Boulez, Henri Dutilleux, Marcel Landovski,      

Philippe Hersant, Iannis Xenakis, Tristan Murail, Philippe Leroux,

Paul Méfano, Jean-Louis Petit, Bruno Mantovani, Bernard de Vienne, François-Bernard Mâche, Renaud Gagneux, mais aussi Luciano  Berio, Padovani, Carlo Galante, Hans-Werner Henze...

He is particularly interested in a close collaboration with composers while creating a new piece.

While pursuing an international carrier of invited conductor, he is nominated Music Director of the Saint-Étienne Opera in 1988 (until 2004). That year, he revives Massenet's Amadis, and records it with the Paris Opera's Chorus and Orchestra. Acclaimed by all international medias, this recording wins the "Orphée d'Or" Prize for "The Best Recording of a French Composer". As a follow up to this huge success, he funds the Festival Massenet in Saint-Étienne, the birth city of the composer. From the Festival creation in 1990 up until now, we owe him numerous rediscoverings of this great composer's operas and oratorios, amongst those most of which where recorded: Cléopatre, La Vierge, Esclarmonde and Gri-selisis (each of them won the "Orphée d'Or" Prize), Le Cid, Cendrillon, Hérodiade, Chérubin, Don Quichotte, Thérèse, Le Roi de Lahore, Panurge.

In 1991, Riccardo Muti invites him to conduct Auber's La Muette de Portici at the Ravenna Festival (Italy) and he !con-ducts Tosca at La Fenice in Venezia.

Then he realizes the world's 1st recording of Haydn's Cantata Applausus, which wins various prizes, including the famous "Diapason d'Or". Recordings of Gounod's Sapho and two recor-dings of French opera arias are to follow : one with the american tenor Rockwell Blake and the other one with Natalie Dessay. Both recordings win numerous and prestigious awards, including the "Grand Prix du Disque".

From 1996 to 2001, Patrick Fournillier is nominated as head of the Symphonic Orchestra Arturo Toscanini of Parma (Italy), where he holds both Music Director and Artistic Director functions. Notably preparing for 2001 Verdi's year celebrations, he commemorates the composer's death through various events : a Sacred Music pro-gram made of unpublished pieces from Verdi, performed in World's Premiere, the Rigoletto-La Traviata-Il Trovatore trilogy and La Battaglia di Legnano.

In 1999-2000, his engagements include the United States, Germany, Egypt, with two different productions of Aida in front of the Cairo Pyramids, and the Ravenna Festival in Italy. After Faust in 1997, he returns at La Scala di Milano for the World's Premiere of the new version of Undine by contemporary composer Hans-Werner-Henze.

In 2001, he recorded Lakmé, with the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

In 2007, he conducted La Sonnambula for the opening of the lyric season in Verona, Alfano's Cyrano de Bergerac with Placido Domingo in Valencia, Gounod's Faust with Jonas Kaufmann where he made his debut in the role in Zurich, Massenet's Manon at the Berlin StaatsOper with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon, Bizet's Carmen at the Berlin DeutscheOper and Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust in Dresden SemperOper.

Massenet's Manon, in Munich at the Bavarian State Opera for

Werther with P.Beczala-V.Kasarova, at the Ravenna Festival for

Verdi's Traviata, in Stockolm for Saint-Saens's Samson & Dalila, at the Flandres Opera for Turandot, in Valencia for Iphigénie en Tauride with Placido Domingo, as well as in Roma, London, Leipzig, Praga, Budapest and Washington for Symphonic Concerts.

In 2009, Patrick Fournillier conducted in Roma (Santa Cecilia), the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Hong-Kong. As for lyric repertoire, he was invited by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino to conduct I Pagliacci working with Franco

Zefirelli for a new production, as well as at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris for a new production of Cyrano de Bergerac with Placido Domingo and Nathalie Manfrino, at the Verona Arenas for a Gala Concert with Placido Domingo, at the National Opera of the Rhine in Strasbourg for a new production of Charpentier's Louise, at the Stuttgart Opera for a new production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, and at the Palau de Les Artes in Valencia for Manon and Symphonic Concerts.

In 2010, he conducts Adriana Lecouvreur at the Maggio

Musicale of Florence. At the Washington National Opera, Patrick

Fournillier conducts two new productions of Le Nozze di Figaro, Hamlet and two Symphonic Concerts (Gala Concert with famous opera singers and Mahler Symphony n°2). He was invited to conduct Carmen at the Verona Arenas and in Stuttgart, Cyrano de Bergerac in San Francisco with Placido Domingo and Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Metropolitan Opera New York.

In 2011, he was seen in Stuttgart conducting Carmen, Lucia di Lammermoor and Traviata, in San Francisco for Symphonic Concerts, in Torino for new productions of Rigoletto and Traviata, in Strasbourg for Hamlet, at the Dresden SemperOper for Carmen, at the Varsovia Opera for Turandot and the New Year's Eve Concert, in Beijing for a French Music Concert with the National China Orchestra, in the Oman Sultanate for a new production of Carmen (1st season of the Royal Opera House of Muscat).

To start 2012, Patrick Fournillier conducted the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel Gala Concert with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra under the High Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Belgium.

Then, he was in the San Carlo of Napoli for two Mozart Concerts with the great pianist Aldo Ciccolini.

He was also leading various celebrations to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of J.Massenet, among which a new production of Thaïs in Valencia with Placido Domingo making his debut as Athanaël.

The Sultanate of Oman invited him again (after Carmen) for Aïda which was an enormous success.

In Warsaw National Opera, Patrick Fournillier was then conducting a new production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut staged by Mariusz Trelinski, with Amanda Echalaz and Thiago Arancam as well as the Gala concert of the Polish tenor Piotr Beczala to mark his 20 year career.

In January 2013, the conductor was in Oslo Opera for Don Pasquale. He was then back in Zürich Opernhaus, for a production of Car-men.

In April, known as a specialist of J. Massenet, he was asked to commemorate the 850th anniversary of Notre-Dame de Paris conducting his Oratorio La Vierge before to go to San Francisco for a production of Les Contes d'Hoffmann, staged by Laurent Pelly and with Natalie Dessay.

Patrick Fournillier was starting 2014 in Zürich, conducting a production of Les Pêcheurs de Perles, before going to Palm Beach for Il Barbiere Di Siviglia . He was then in Brussels to lead an exceptional concert (broadcasted worldwide and relayed in Web live) uniting José Van Dam, the singers of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and the National Orchestra of Belgium. In Parma, he is conducting another production of Les Pêcheurs de Perles , and is in Los Angeles Opera for Massenet's Thaïs starring Placido Domingo.

2015 will bring him in Amsterdam for L'Étoile by Chabrier, in Bogotà for Rigoletto, in Barcellona for Carmen, in La Scala di  Milano for Giselle, as well as in Paris, Roma, Prague, St Peters-bourg, Birmingham, London, München, Beijing, Montreal and Seat-tle for Symphonic concerts.
