Michael Heim was born in Bludenz (Vorarlberg, Austria) and grew up in the town of Thüringen (Austria).

After his studies of music he worked for several years as journalist and editor in the greatest West Austrian publishing company (Voralberger Medienhaus). Parallel to his voice training he was already invited to participate in numerous concerts at national and international festivals.

His professors include Irmgard Boas (Dresden), Prof. Habib Samadzadeh (Hohenems), Nicolai Gedda (Genf) and Francisco Araiza (Zürich/München).

Mr. Heim's first roles on a stage were in 1998 at the Theatre in St. Gallen and included amongst others the First Prisoner/Fidelio. Since 1999 he has been a freelance tenor, appearing amongst others at the Operahouses of Zürich, Dresden, Vienna, Genua, Triest, Chemnitz, Leipzig, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg (Schwanengesang with Hans-Udo Kreuels), theatres in Flensburg (Cosi fan tutte), Giessen (Haydn, L'infedelta delusa), Landestheater Salzburg, Seebühne Bregenz, Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, Tour-production Viena-Japan with Zauberflöte (Tamino), La Traviata (Alfredo ital), HCC Hamburg, Brucknerhaus Linz, the Lehar Festival Bad Ischl, Musiktheater Schönbrunn, Wien, Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoperette Dresden, Luzerner Theater, Beethovenhalle Bonn, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Glocke Bremen, Philharmonie Essen, Residenz München, Frauenkirche and Philharmonie Dresden, Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin, and others.
